Help finding alternative reseller

Posted by artfuljames, 05-20-2006, 07:13 PM
Hi guys, First time posting new topic here, hope I don't go breaking any rules. I'll cut to the chase.. I have been a reseller with www.hostroute.co.uk (that's UK, not US servers) for well over a year and am quite honestly fed up with them. Sometimes they are great, sometimes awful - in terms of support and service. I have nothing against them (i.e. Gordon) and understand that to keep prices low they use low-spec servers and offer limited support. That said, I have found them to be quite rude, emails contain poor grammar and spelling mistakes (makes them sound like a kid in a bedroom if you know what I mean) and I have become increasingly frustrated with the constant email downtime and PHP walkabouts (by that I mean, one minute PHP is working fine, next minute its done a runner). Most of my clients are businesses and they rely on email, like most of us, for business. They rely on email in their day-to-day communications and are more bothered about their email working than their web site. Each time email goes down, I have to apologise and say "hopefully it won't happen again" but I know it will. Hostroute, incidentally, never apologise for anything - not even loosing approximately 100 email enquiries, potentially £100's of business. Over a year ago, I was chuffed to find such a low cost, potentially profitable reseller, I knew that other resellers existed but couldn't afford them at the time. Can anyone point me in the direction of a top quality, UK reseller that doesn't charge the earth? I obviously have a lot of hostees that I would need to move over, so this is a key feature I am interested in. Please only advise resellers on experience. Thanks. Wow, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with problems. Hostroute does a horrible job of communicating, no reason's or response for down times, upgrades affecting entire sites, such as a recent php upgrade. Now The Zend Optimizer apparently somehow is not working, so neither is my site. I've pretty much had it, I wait a whole day before I get a response and it's usually, "This has been actioned". Is actioned a word? How about some more detail. It's been a few years and it's time to move on, with that said Hostroute.com who once had 2 thumbs up from me, now have an extreme 2 thumbs down, poor service and poor reliability.

Much better than my previous hosting company - I also got help with migration at no extra cost. Friendly support too.
